Development of an integration concept for the City of Kelsterbach
The city of
Kelsterbach has mandated the efms to guide a process of developing a community
integration concept. The concept will be elaborated in a participative
approach, directly incorporating those actors who are relevant for its
implementation: the city administration, sponsors of integration projects,
associations and clubs, welfare organizations, migrant organizations,
educational institutions, religious communities, as well as all interested
individuals.
The concept
will be developed in several steps. Developing an integration concept requires
an analysis of the current situation that identifies those areas which are in
need of action. Existing data, as well as information resulting from interviews
that were conducted by the efms, will be used. A public integration conference
constitutes the opening of the participatory process addressing citizens who
are interested in establishing working groups for the relevant areas of action.
Tasks of the working groups will be: identification of aims and actions of
local integration policies in five fields of action on the topics of 'living
situation of juveniles/adolescences', 'living situation of senior citizens', 'education, occupation and language', 'involvement in civic associations', and 'intercultural and interreligious dialogue'. Integration measures which have
been already implemented in the city will be allocated to the fields of action.
The efms
will develop a proposal for the integration concept of Kelsterbach based on the
results of the working groups and the development of guidelines of local
integration policies. The proposal of the concept will be presented to the public
for information and debates on a second integration conference.
