Attitudes to Migrants, Communication and Local Leadership (AMICALL)
Communicating with citizens about migration and integration on site is an important instrument for local and regional authorities (LRAs) in objectifying the migration and integration debate, easing tensions and creating a climate of tolerance in society.
Therefore, it is the aim of AMICALL to identify communication strategies used by the LRAs concerning the issue of "Integration and Migration", to learn from them and to disseminate gained insights. For this purpose, AMICALL established a transnational learning network, which is implemented and coordinated by research centres in six EU member states (Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain). The efms is responsible for the project's activity in Germany. The Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford is responsible for the coordination of the overall project.
So as to allow as many LRAs as possible to benefit from the results of the project, international organisations as the Council of Europe, but also national associations as the Local Government Association of Great Britain, also participate in the network in the six member states. Furthermore, migrant organisations, the civil society, experts of local media and the National Contact Points of the European Migration Network (EMN) will also contribute to the communal learning process.
