Cities for Local Integration Policies (CLIP)

The efms coordinated a comparative study on local integration policies at the European level. Up to 30 European metropolises and middle-sized cities exchanged experiences from their concrete integration measures and projects in the areas housing, diversity management, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, employment, support for education and other central issues of local integration policies.

The experts from the municipal administrations were supported by the members of a research network coordinated by the efms (CLIP European Research Group). The researchers supported the field work for local case studies, and conducted a comparative analysis of its findings at the European level based on state of the art of research on integration processes and polices.

The project was funded by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Dublin. It implemented two new thematic modules per year until 2010. Within the project, in-depth case studies on the concrete integration measures and projects of the participating cities were conducted, and a comparative analysis of the local integration policies and their implementation was compiled by the research network.

Participating cities were amongst others Amsterdam, Arnsberg, Antwerp, Athens, Barcelona, Breda, Brescia, Budapest, City of Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Izmir, Liège, Prague, Sefton, Stuttgart, Tallinn, Turku, Vienna and Zagreb. The network of cities was coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, EuroFound Dublin, the City of Stuttgart and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions in Brussels.
