ConferencesTransatlantic Discourse on IntegrationDuring the 1990s, the public and political discourse has very much focused on migration policies and whether or not the countries in Europe are countries of immigration. A lively intellectual exchange across the Atlantic on the analysis of migration, migration policies and control has been going on since then. For some years now, this discourse has been extended to integration and integration policies. In this context, the efms initiated in 2003 the "Transatlantic Discourse on Integration", which wants to link discussion of integration issues in the U.S. and Europe. As part of this discourse, the efms has been organising a series of workshops on various aspects of integration with the participation of renowned experts from academia, politics, administrations, NGOs and the media. Since 2004, the efms has been in charge of implementing these workshops series as Key Immigration and Integration Institution for the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
