Forum Migration 6 Europeanisation of National Migration PoliciesA Study on Policy Changes in EuropeThis publication - presented as a thesis - analyzes strategies which have been developed by the European Union countries to cope with migration flows. The study focuseses on the question of how the setting of national policies is changed by multilateral international cooperation in the area of migration policy. It wants to be a contribution to the current research on the change of policies in Europe. Thus, the following questions are discussed: Which motives lead to intergovernmental cooperation agreements in migration affairs? Then, the cooperation is analyzed with regard to its development over time. What kind of cooperation was agreed, and which changes has it undergone over time? Following this analysis, the question of compatibility of transnational problem tackling and democratic principles is discussed. |
